North Temperate Lakes Microbial Observatory:

Thus, lakes offer tremendous opportunity for study of microbial composition and diversity linked to ecosystem processes.

Trina, Ashley, and Emily traveled to Uppsala, Sweden for GLEON 7 and a Microbial Community Dynamics workshop organized by Stefan Bertilsson. We had a great time catching up with many of the giants in the field of aquatic microbial ecology! Emily will be spending eight weeks in Stefan's lab to learn FISH MAR and CARD FISH.
